Fire District Honors Members of the Year
On March 4, 2006 the Estacada Fire District held it's
annual awards banquet at the Monarch Hotel Banquet Room in Clackamas.
This event is to thank and award all our volunteer firefighters for the
past year of service they have given to our community. Our members
answered 1,377 requests for assistance last year. That’s an average of
almost 4 calls for “HELP” each day!
I can’t begin to express the pride, respect, and
gratitude I feel for these dedicated people for all the time they give
to maintain their skills and expertise in both firefighting and
emergency medical care. I am truly honored to lead such a talented,
professional, dedicated group of men and women.
We swore in many new members, most in our newly
formed Fire Corps, as well as two new Firefighters. Many members
received acknowledgement for certification from the NFPA (National Fire
Protection Association) in many disciplines.
The highlight of the night was the presentation of
the Firefighter, Emergency Medical Technician, and Officer of the year.
While we enjoyed the evening away from our
responsibilities and duty to act, neighboring fire districts provided
our constituents fire and life safety services from our facilities.

Firefighter of the Year was awarded to Michael
Huret, for his response level of 333 alarms, 96% drill attendance (48
drills attended), great attitude and reliability.

Emergency Medical Technician of the Year was
given the Paramedic Steve Troute. Steve attended 96% of the regular
drills and also taught many of the regular and special EMS drills. Steve
responded to 223 alarms last year.
